Who Was Saint Patrick?

Patrick had a great influence on the nation of Ireland, but that was not his homeland. This was not a mission that he would have chosen or wanted. He was taken by force from his homeland of England and was enslaved for 6 years in Ireland when he was 16. By a miracle he was able to escape and return home. At this time in history, Ireland was overshadowed by spiritual darkness. The outcry of the innocents moved God’s hand to begin to shatter that darkness. He persuaded Patrick to go back to Ireland.

The Mission

Against his family’s wishes, he returned to share God’s heart. First he taught that man is trapped in darkness and will one day stand before the Judge of All the Earth. “It is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgement.” Hebrews 9:27 This darkness separated man from being able to reach out and know his maker. Most importantly he taught that God loves mankind and sent his son as the sacrifice to make a way for man to restore his relationship with God. “Having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” Ephesians 1:5-7

The Choice is Yours

He has chosen you. He has provided a way for all of your past to be forgiven. Now it’s your move…

Will you choose Him? Are you willing to turn away from your darkness? Ask Him to forgive you. When you take this step towards Him, he will break out and unashamedly run to you and make you his son or daughter for all eternity.
